The football season has started off as usual exciting. The Jets got off to a hot start but have shown lately that they have a rookie coach and quarterback. But the biggest surprise of the NFL season so far is the Cincinnati Bengals. Cedric Benson is on the pace to be the NFL's MVP and Carson Palmer has not missed a step. Oh yeah and they also have that wide receiver named Chad Ochocinco. You ever heard of him? Yeah, I thought so. He is loud, arrogant, egotistical, and talented. These are the same characteristics that 50 Cent has. They both worked hard for the position they are in. But now they have gotten in that position they can do nothing more than scream it to the top of their lungs. But the real question is did 50 Cent's arrogance get to him and did he not produce a quality album? Click read more to find out.
Production: 8 50 Cent says he was going back to his street roots for this album and he put the right producers around him to make a good album production wise. I have been listening to music for quite some time now and never heard a guitar riff in a hip hop song like the one on "Death to Enemies." It definitely worked in 50 Cent's favor and made a great song. I can not the same thing about the production done on "Get It Hot." That is one of those tracks where 50 Cent's ego got the best of him. 50 Cent has made many club tracks that are seen as classics such as "In the Club, P.I.M.P, Disco Inferno and I Get Money." But this does not fit under this classic club track material. This will be swept under the rug.
Lyrics: 8 If you don't know by now, 50 Cent is far from the most lyrical rapper to grace a mic. But the theme of his material comes out so clearly and never has a problem with staying on topic. On this album he shows what he is good at yet again on "So Disrespectful." It might not be the most intellectual topic but it shows that 50 Cent has not changed. It was extremely entertaining as usual. But then when you listen to "Get It Hot" yet again you feel that you are just suppose to do the Chicken Noodle Soup dance and we all know we want that to be laid to rest forever.
Concept: 8 I understood where he is going with this album. He went back to the hip hop roots with creating his own rendition of Rapper's Delight. Then he also went back to his personal roots with his more gritty material lyrics. Then finally he touched all bases by making the music that made him most successful by making a few tracks that would reach out to the masses.
Dope Tracks
Do You Think About Me- This is a smooth track. One of those that needs to be featured on the radio.
Psycho featuring Eminem- There is an equal balance on this track. Eminem did not outshine on a guest appearance for once and 50 Cent held his own.
Not So Dope Tracks
Get It Hot- 50 Cent take your own advice and grap your strap and bang yourself for creating this track and wasting your sound engineers time. Thank you.
I Got Swag- 50, come on now. You young. You hip. You should know that the word "swag" is dead. Once sportscasters start to use it to describe confidence in a sports player. It is basically over right then and there.
Verdict: 8
I have to be honest this album had to grow on me a little and was not hot on the first listen but after a couple listen it was extremely solid. I can't really complain.
